Great British Bake Off

Well its back!

One of the most indulgent, tasty, scrummy prorammes on TV ~ no I'm not talking about Greys Anatomy (altho it could be said there is plenty of scumminess in that show too).  I am referring to The Great British Bake Off which returns to our screens last night on BBC2. Now in its third series and continues to make baking a hot xxx

Of course cakes and all the assorted gorgeousness are the perfect accompaniment to the British cuppa.  So has the show inspired you and what is your favourite 'bit on the side' ~ of your saucer or side plate?

here is a selection of 'attempts' I made throughout the last series - the varying degrees of success it has to be said!

Brownies

Granola

Monte Carlo's

Muffins

I'd love to hear from you with pics of your baking or you enjoying someone else's with your cuppa ~ get in touch.

Days Out... Fortnums

For two of us this year we were celebrating 'significant' birthdays so in April we decided to take tea at Fortnums for our bi-monthly meet up.  In March it had been given a makeover and was renamed to coincide with the Queen's Jubilee and was looking truly marvellous.

Stepping out of the lifts into the lobby area was a reception desk and a pianist playing steadily in the background really added to the special feeling of an 'Afternoon Tea'.  The decor was elegantly simple with lots of whites, creams and the 'Tiffany' blue and along with all the menu's, crockery and tableware and it really felt like a treat to be part of it.

You would need to book a table in advance and our tea was approx £45 per person so it is pricey but well worth it for a birthday or anniversary treat.  We had sandwiches, cakes, scones and macaroons which were replenished as many times we wanted.  Thoroughly indulgent ~ it actually made me feel quite like a lady!

Do you have any hotel recommendations for tea and what were your thoughts?

what its all about...

My love affair with tea began from an early age and was something I inherited  from my mum. 'There is nothing that can't be solved by a cup of tea' she always says.

So with this in mind, I thought I'd start a blog about tea, its as simple as that. I love blogging and I love tea so why not combine the two!

My partners for my tea-themed endeavours will mostly be Mum, Scout and Pops (my gorgeous little Fiat 500).  It's a bit of a squish but if you'd like to join us on our tea adventures then we'd love to have you along for the ride...
